Indonesian Islands on Tosca Batik

On October 2, 2009, UNESCO designated Indonesian batik as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

Each region in Indonesia has its own unique pattern that normally takes themes from daily lives, incorporating patterns such as flowers, nature, animals, folklore or people.

This one here is really unique to me.

First, because of the color which is quite unusual for typical brown or dark color batik. Second, because of the pattern. It is actually representing Indonesian’s major big islands. Look closely and compare it with maps (if you are that curious).
